Appropriate Living

Everywhere we look, the message is the same: do more, be more, achieve more. Be more, drink more, work more, work out more, binge more, buy more. We live in a world where everything is at our fingertips 24/7, and the pressure to be at 100% in every area of life is constant.

But the truth is, it’s exhausting. And for women especially, it’s hurting us. We can’t be everything to everyone, all the time.

Not so long ago, life moved at a more appropriate pace. Most people didn’t need diets because they ate appropriately. Work rarely spilled over into home life, so burnout was less common. Vacations were actually vacations, not photo ops for comparison on social media. We weren’t expected to train like competitive athletes just to achieve a specific body type.

Many aspects of life were naturally balanced. We had shared cultural rhythms around what was enough.

Now, the push is constant, and yet, even with all the tools and information at our disposal, we often feel less healthy, less balanced, and less content.

Appropriate living doesn’t mean restriction or perfection—it means alignment. It means letting go of the pressure always to do more and choosing instead to notice what feels supportive, sustainable, and joyful.

  • Time with friends means more when it’s intentional.

  • A glass of wine tastes richer when it marks a celebration.

  • Movement feels better when it’s consistent, not punishing.

  • Sweets are sweeter when they’re occasional.

More isn’t always better. Enough is.

This month, let's experiment with what feels right for us, minor changes made with intention that bring us closer to lives that feel healthy, balanced, and deeply fulfilling.

With love and gratitude,
💛 Elease
