Making Space for Peace

May has left me feeling like December in disguise, full of stress, obligations, and zero breathing room. I have heard from many of you that you are quietly carrying the weight of too much, too fast. I've heard the word burnout and it is resonating loud and clear. And while we often think of burnout as sheer exhaustion, it runs deeper. It's that foggy, flat, checked-out feeling that sneaks in and quietly steals our spark. Burnout can show up in a few sneaky ways: cognitive fog, emotional numbness, and cynicism come to mind.

Mini meditations are my go-to when I'm feeling weighed down. Short, intentional moments of stillness, often just 1 to 5 minutes help reset your nervous system, calm your mind, and bring you back to the present. You can do one while waiting in the carpool line, walking between meetings, or even washing dishes. I recommend taking three deep, conscious breaths. Do a 1-minute body scan. Repeat a calming phrase like “I am safe” or “Just this moment” or noticing 5 things you can see, hear, or feel around you will help you reset.

Make time for your guilty pleasure, whatever fills your cup. Mine is a few minutes in my backyard listening to the birds sing. It brings me joy and peace. Setting (and honoring!) boundaries can also help us combat burnout. Clearly define what you need to protect your time, energy, and well-being. This might include turning off work notifications after 6 p.m. or saying no to events that drain your energy. Boundaries are not selfish; they create space for what truly matters, so you don't burn out trying to be everything to everyone.

Naming what you're feeling is often the first step to releasing it, and being heard reminds you that you're not alone, soothes the nervous system, builds resilience, and helps us feel seen and supported.

While rest is important, reconnection to your purpose, your needs, and your self is the solution to burnout. You don't have to earn your peace. You just have to make space for it. And we are always here to support you on that journey.

With love and support,
Elease
